Playnation was established in 2013, emerging from a management buyout supported by Palatine Private Equity. Its origins date back to 1988 when Leisure Link, a spin-off from Bass Leisure, was subject to a £70m management buy-in. Since then the company has grown to employ more than 800 people across the UK, operating circa 20,000 amusement machines throughout 1,700 locations. Playnation’s reach into the leisure sector is significant, taking in high profile clients in holiday parks, motorway service stations, family pubs, bowling alleys, high street AGCs and major airports.
Working with household names
In terms of client brands, Playnation has an enviable roster. It includes the likes of park operators Butlins, Parkdean, Park Resorts and Haven; alongside motorway service station firms Moto, Roadchef and Welcome Break; as well as leisure luminaries ODEON and Bowlplex. It can also count Birmingham, Bristol and Heathrow among airport clients, with family pub locations belonging to Marstons, Spirit and Whitbread adding to a compelling leisure mix. Additionally, the company is making considerable headway in the AGC sector with operators including Talarius and numerous independent operators.
